From pristine beaches and vibrant coral reefs to lush landscapes and welcoming locals, this Southeast Asian gem has something for everyone. This guide will help you plan the perfect Philippine adventure, ensuring an unforgettable journey.
Exploring the Wonders of Bohol
Our Philippine journey began in Bohol, an island known for its unique landscapes and diverse wildlife. We explored the historic Baclayon Church, one of the oldest Catholic churches in the Philippines, built with coral and stones. A floating buffet lunch on the Loboc River provided spectacular views, and the Philippine Tarsier Sanctuary offered a close encounter with these adorable primates.
We also experienced the thrill of ziplining across the Loboc River and marveled at the Chocolate Hills, over 1,200 dome-shaped hills spread across the landscape. Exploring Bohol's countryside was a delightful blend of nature and culture.
Diving into the Underwater World
The Philippines boasts some of the world's best snorkeling and diving. Our boat tour to Balicasag Island Marine Sanctuary revealed stunning coral reefs teeming with life. Swimming with dolphins and exploring the Virgin Island Sandbar were unforgettable experiences. We highly recommend exploring the underwater world of the Philippines.
El Nido: A Tropical Paradise
El Nido, located in Palawan, is renowned for its towering limestone cliffs, hidden lagoons, and pristine beaches. We explored the iconic Big Lagoon by kayak, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Island hopping in El Nido is a must-do, offering opportunities to discover hidden beaches, snorkel in crystal-clear waters, and soak up the tropical ambiance.
Diving in El Nido was another highlight, with vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and unforgettable encounters with sea turtles and colorful fish. The underwater landscapes were truly remarkable.
Coron: Island Hopping and Hidden Gems
Coron, another gem in Palawan, offers equally stunning scenery. Our island hopping tour took us to Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, and the Twin Lagoon. Free diving in the crystal-clear waters of Barracuda Lake was a truly peaceful experience, and kayaking through the Twin Lagoon was simply breathtaking.
Coron's islands are a paradise for adventurers, offering opportunities for snorkeling, kayaking, and exploring hidden lagoons.
Experiencing Manila's Rich Culture
Our trip concluded in Manila, where we explored the historic Intramuros district, a walled city that offers a glimpse into the Philippines' Spanish colonial past. A guided tour provided insights into the city's rich history and cultural heritage.
We also experienced the modern side of Manila in Bonifacio Global City, a vibrant district with skyscrapers, shopping malls, and a cosmopolitan atmosphere. The contrast between the historic and modern districts highlighted the city's dynamic character.
Embrace the Filipino Warmth
Throughout our journey, we were struck by the warmth and hospitality of the Filipino people. Their kindness and welcoming nature truly enhanced our travel experience. The emphasis on family and faith was evident, and we left inspired by their positive outlook and joyful spirit.
