Information about visas, ferries, and accommodations was scarce, adding an element of excitement and uncertainty to the adventure. From a ferry to Nunukan, Indonesia, followed by a night's stay, we then embarked on a speedboat to Tarakan. Each leg of the journey brought us closer to our final destination, building anticipation for the paradise that awaited.

From Tarakan, our journey continued on a small plane to Maratua Island. Booked through a WhatsApp conversation, the flight added a unique and slightly nerve-wracking element to our trip.
